 purpose article is determine meaning as defined scientific research Western critics, fix level problem prior studies outside post-Soviet doctrine. methodology use hermeneutic method, whereby has been revealed through this word drawn on a variety textual sources related cultural sphere; historical-genetic method transition from semantic (narrow) definition broad studied within period mid-nineteenth present; historical-systemic due which realism researched with reference political, conditions epoch time appearing till metamodern days. novelty systematic analysis and introduction into circulation concepts foreign source base, determining status study issue theory. Conclusions. To date, phenomenon not thoroughly studied. There small number publications where systematic. scholars, despite spread modern sphere, avoid providing generalized, universal definitions; attention paid description movements, according opinions historians should be considered realistic.
